So I'm in a brew pub in the little town of Prosser, Washington. This is wine country, but I found this brew pub that makes some killer ales. One of their T-shirt said: "Give a man a beer, and he'll waste an hour. Teach him to brew, and he'll waste a lifetime."

My wife, of course, changed it to: "Give a man a knife, and he'll waste an hour. Make him a knifemaker, and he'll waste a lifetime."

Thanks, sweetie.

It's a good thing to have a woman in your life that keeps your ego in check. I know mine sure does :p

Womans T shirt

Give a man a little and he will spend an hour, marry him and he will work a lifetime!

Beer, knives, I would bet there isn't much difference. I've been realizing lately that the type of person that would make a knife is also more likely to be the type of person to make their own beer, wine, or other. Of the last 3 knifemakers that I've talked to, at least two of them have/had their own stills. One of them worked at the beer making store and turned out to be a knifemaker who only recently moved to town. I've been thinking about posting a poll asking how many do both, but it's a topic more aimed at around the grinder than shoptalk, so I haven't.

Oddly enough, my older brother and I are very similar in many ways. I make knives and he brews beer.

Phil, I was there last week. I live in Richland next time you get this way come visit. That goes for all ya all. And I am a home brewer also. Jess

I'm sure that's true. I do make wine from time to time, for instance.

Does Mead count? I've got 3 gallons settling in my shop at home. I used to make wine with Dad. It's a family tradition. I also found out that my uncle was the town Blacksmith in the town mt father grew up in, in Italy. Maybe it's in the blood.

Been homebrewing for over 15 years. Beer, wine and mead. Wasn't a necessity then when I lived in Milwaukee, but I live in a dry county in Tennessee now. Making knives for 8 years.

So...for the shirt visualize alcohol on the front and a knife on the back that says:

"Liquor in the Front, Poker in the Rear"

Just a new twist on an oldie but goodie.
