Beer talk

You like what you like, and I admit that I will drink a High Life from time to time. But, and I've said this before, most American beer (Budweiser, Coors, etc.) really makes me ashamed of being an American.

Fortunately it seems like we're in the midst of a revolution of sorts in American brewing and there are so many great little breweries popping up all over the place.

Last week I had a great beer from Catawba Valley Brewing Co. from my hometown of Morganton, NC. Tonight I'm having another one of my favorites, a Gaelic ale by Highlands Brewing down the road in Asheville, NC.

I love beer, and I don't drink beer to get drunk or buzzed. The thing I love the most about beer is seeing what all there is out there and trying new things. Sometimes it's a disaster, but more times than not, it's great.

Dude, you're from western NC? I'm from Eastern NC. Highland puts out from great stuff.
There's loads of great breweries in NC, I was surprised when I moved, but the beer culture is huge out here.

Tonight having a Cigar City Improvisación Oatmeal Rye India-style Brown Ale, very nice brew.

Cheers!

Tonight a Cigar City Hunahpu's Imperial Stout, very very tasty, highly recommended.

Tonight a Redhook Treblehook. Never thought this brewery could do something this tasty.

Cheers!

Today a Epic Brewing Cross Fever Amber Ale, this is from our new brewery in SLC.

Cheers!

definitely recommending Samuel Adams Latitude 48. Hell, any Sammy. When warm, its still better than the $10 24 packs I typically purchase. It seems to make me sleepy though

My personal favorites:
Guiness of course. I would take it intraveneously except I would miss that absolutely wonderfull creamy smooth goodness dancing across my taste buds.
Dead Guy Ale from Rouge- Probably my all time favorite
Mocha Porter from Rogue
Levitation from Stone
Most any thing from Rogue (my favorites) or Stone
I disagree with those who consider American factory beers to be inferior. They are just different style beers. A long time favorite is a good ole Miller High Life longnecks. I love Strohs & Rolling Rock as well. I love the dark beers & the hoppy ales but just as often I'm in the mood for a lighter crispy American made lager.
I simply love beer. All kinds of beer.

after being stationed in germany for 5 years. KREUZBERG. hands down the best beer in the world period

Slowman, +1 Miller High Life Light (longnecks not cans) is my go to when I'm not drinking Sam Adams, another microbrew or my own

Im partial to the heavy unfiltered wheat beers , the thicker the better ..........ummmm..............liquid bread.

Nothing commercial its all crap.

Three Floyds
Rochefort
Dogfish head
Stone's

are my Go to breweries.

I would die to try some bells, alesmith, russian river and cigar city beers. Someone should hook me up, TN distribution sucks.

Don't wanna bump my post but I do want to say I'm drinking a DELICIOUS Dogfish Head Palo Santo Marron right now. Man this ranks in my top 10 beers for sure.

This thread needs to make a come back. Aside from women and knives, there's not much better on earth than beer.

I just opened up a bottle of Magic Hat Encore IPA out of the winter mix pack. I love a good IPA.

New England Brewing Co.
Imperial Stout Trooper
ABV: 8.5%
2008 Vintage
Revisited: 20 Nov 2010
At Least 2 Years On This Bottle

Poured into a chalice a thick black color, some nice carbonation still, almost a one-finger creamy tan head, some oil slicks and sticky lacing around the edges. The nose is malty, chocolate/toffee notes, roasted, slight vanilla. The taste is very nice, malty, nice touch of roastyness, and slightly vanilla (sweetness), lots of very nice chocolate/toffee notes. The finish is slightly dry, the alcohol is hidden very well. Full body. Very Drinkable, this one is stilling holding up pretty well.

Cheers!

Pliny the Elder is good.....
