Beerlow

Not at all - please elaborate. That said, as opposed to modifying a TC or other GEC knife, I would rather just keep the Barlow and have a Beerlow or similar knife made.

Not to start controversy or negativity, but there are so many other, easier to find Barlows that one could modify...

Eh, it's what the owner wanted. Plus, the owners of the other unmodified ancients just had their knives increase in rarity by a fraction. ;)

Of course, the owner can do whatever he wants with his knife. In fact, I like to use my knives, rather than keeping them pristine, so most of mine are 'altered' in some way through use and sharpening. It's just that the TC Ancient is a rare and sought after knife, and there are so many vintage Case Barlows out in the world that would be perfect candidates if one wants to make a Barlow with a bottle opener.

Warning; I am completely prejudiced!
But, to my eye, and sense of aesthetic for the traditional, a crownlifter on a Barlow makes me slightly ill!!:(

A very polite way of putting it Charlie :barf:

Missing this year's Forum knife made me a little ill. ;)

I love the traditional Barlow too but the addition of the crown lifter is simply a great utility addition for me. I will actually use and carry everything I own. I am not a collector.

This is why you should grab a GEC #15 Crown Lifter Boy's Knife. Aside from the bolsters, you get the sheepsfoot blade like this years forum knife will have as well as the bottle opener. They're still in supply at many retailers.
