Before and after spa. Fighter vs Woodsman comparison.

I don't know for sure, but I think he only made a handful. I've only seen a handful of pics anyway.

How did the handle color change so much?

TF

Well the first pic was osage that had been dyed and aged for a couple of years. By aged I mean, just owned and stored for a while. When I sent the Fighter to Andy for spa treatment, there was some fit and finish issues, nothing big, but it needed some sanding. So they (Andy and the team) ended up sanding down the darker aged Osage and as a result the handle is much more vibrant.

Man, I had NO IDEA the fighter was that large! WOW! FUN! I want one! That's a hard one to come by!

That's probably the oddest thing about FF knives to me. It's really hard for me to nail down the size of a lot of the knives. I have but two Fiddies and I have to compare whatever I'm looking at to a picture that has a Kephart (or Karda) in it. Often when I do, I'm surprised to see the difference.

As a side note, I must be the only fan that doesn't really care for Osage. I like it when fresh, but it looks rather boring to me as it darkens. I agree that it looks sort of walnut-y. To each their own. :)

I think I'm the opposite, man. I can't stand the yellow-ey when it's fresh, but really like the darker color. I'm not sure yet whether I like it enough to buy it, though.

It looks much better up close in sunlight. I also prefer it aged and brownish :D

Hey guys, about how much do Andy's spa visits cost for some light freshening?

Quiet day on the FF forum today, so I will chime in with what I know here. As far as I know, the spa treatment is part of the service that Andy offers to his customers, at least from what I have read. So my guess is that it will only require payment in shipping, and the loss of the use of your knife for the time it takes to get through the process.

I have not used this service, but this is my understanding of it via what I have read here http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1155194-A-Note-on-the-Warranty-and-the-Spa-Service.

I *believe* Andy asks for $10 to cover return shipment and no multiple knives (due to recent backlogs). I usually send more, but $10 should do the trick.

I've sent $25 to cover shipping and a beer or two as thanks.
