What type of blade play, left to right? Or front to back? Left to right can be fixed by clamping or sticking it in a vice where the blade pivot pin runs thru the tang, don't tighten to much or else it won't want to open or close, and use soft jaws.

What I do is wrap a scrap of leather around the bolster.

Yeah. Slowly compress it then check the blade , and so on. You want the handle sticking out of course at its thicker than the bolster.

Roger that will take it to the shop where I work tomorrow and borrow one of the techs bench vises and see if I can snug it up
