Before They Were Knife Makers

PhilL - I always knew there was something in you...I just couldn't tell what it was...

now I know....

its called spare time....:D

You guys are gonna get your a$$es kicked, or worse. Yessireee!! Think about it. Ed Fowler, Wyoming cattle rancher. Well versed in the arts of knife and rope. Castrating cattle is nothing more than a daily chore. People are a lot easier. Kit Carson, armed forces. Used to castrate the enemy with nothing more than a steely eyed glare. Oh boy, I want the movie rights to this one.

Well, if Mayo can stand to look, there's no reason the rest of you shouldn't see it.

This thread hasn't seen the light of day in almost 3 years.
It needs to be aired out for some that might never have seen it.
All of the links work and it's pretty darn funny even if I do say so myself.
There's also some old friends that aren't with us any longer, it's good to see them posting here.

And so without further ado...BTTT!

Enjoy!

Wow, this is an old thread. Hmmm.......my dad (Devin Thomas) hasn't done much other than make damascus...oh well. He made knives from when he was 13, by the time he was older and making damascus and knives at the same time, he soon realized no one would buy his knives and all they ever bought was the damascus. Then he started making stainless damascus and it sold so fast he couldn't make damascus and knives at the same time.

What a boring story. :)

I'm waiting for the next chapter where Art Washburn goes to work for your Dad. ;)

That's more like chapter 4 or 5. :) I think somewhere around chapter 6 or 7 he stopped working for him.

Wow, some of that is funny as all get out. But it's wierd seeing a post from Rob Simonich saying it's the first thread he ever subscribed to, then posts from Gadi Blilious. When I hit those posts, I couldn't read any further for a while, even though I never really knew either of them, but have since learned of their reputations and the kind of men they were.

Really funny and really sad all in one thread.

Hmmm...

Phill, don't quit yet! This is too good! Hey, you have a story on our favorite, Indian George?

JohnA, I know IG, but I don't have any dirt on him, gimme some ammo. ;)

That's why I thought this thread needed to be brought BTTT.

Phil, IG roasts possums and skunks in his forge, throws road rockets at his crabby neighbor, eats bottom crawlers he calls lobster, but is a closet squirrel eater. On Saturday night he puts the cat out and lets in the skunk, due to excessive cheap beer. He rides a scooter and plays on the freeway with it. He is the great inventor of the Indian George's Famous Heat Treat Relish, known far and wide. It is liquid napalm, but very tasty. There is a rumor he makes scooter midnight runs while dressed in one of those old dance hall dresses while wearing matching net stockings, but he accuses Dan G. of being the culprit, disguised as IG. He also makes great damascus and knives, but that's beside the point. One other thing, the local fire dept. stands by at a safe distance while he cooks his HT relish. Want more?

What John said... I basically started out lurking here around that time so I am aware of the personalities involved... and I have to admit, when I got to Rob's posting I did a wierd double-take and had to look at the post date just to confirm that this wasn't recent... and then all the funny and sad blurred together...

Thanks Phil... sometimes we need the past brought out like this to remind us of who these forums really are... Great people! :D
