I'm just getting into the art of knife making. I bought some 1095 steel and it says it is annealed, do I still need to anneal it? how long of a blade is a propane torch good for also what sharpening stone should I buy. - Thanks

If it's already annealed then no you don't have to anneal it. 1084 is lots easier to heat treat with a torch than 1095. Look at the stickies at the top of the main page for all the info you need.

There is a stickies page on here. You should read all of them as they are extremely helpful. I'm rather new to knife making myself and are still referencing them for different things. Make sure you read the count's guide for newbies. And if you plan on using any power tools, get a good respirator.
