I recently ordered a scrapivore, it hasnt even gotten here yet but my thoughts already turn to the next piece of the collection.

Which dog, rat, hog would you say is a must have for a collection?

Im thinking a War Dog, then a Rodent Solution, then a Swamp Warden possibly and then i run out of steam.

I sort of want to start out with the dogs and rats first just bc I think most of them are great deals.

BUT I definitely need a chopper to play with and fill out the spectrum.

What was your first few Dogs, rats, hogs?

I don't have any, but the only busse i have ever lusted after was the first killa zilla. that is a knife worth owning.

The War Dog is back in stock so you can get one for a reasonable price. Jump on that first. As soon as Swamp Rat has the Ratmandu back up, get one of those. That's where I'd start, then you can decide which knives you want to pay a premium for. Get those two first at reasonable prices. They are two of their best. I have them both. You will not be dissapointed.

My thoughts exactly. The SY WD sold out in one week last time. Get INFI while the getting's good.

SR RMD is a quality general purpose user knife at a fair price. IMO it's a no-brainer.

Next, maybe think about a chopper. You could buy off the exchange or wait for the 11's from SR and SY. I'm looking forward to these new Bussekin offerings. (ANY TIME NOW!!! BRING IT!!!)

I'm going in the other direction... selling off most of the Bussekins.

The essentials?
Some sort of Battle Mistress. I'll likely keep a SHBM and my 2007 SE.
Mid Range? Old-school Ratweiler. Accept no substitute. The SFNO LE is nice too.
Smaller? Two recent knives float my boat, the CABS and the Muk. Ratmandu is a great design. I also like my .14 Game Wardens.

Ratweiler is one of the classic bussekins. And I'll agree that one of the battle mistresses is necessary at some point or other :)

In particular, I am a fan of the m9 as well, but it's not for everybody... Keep an eye on your monie$... ;)

I seriously regret buying a spyderco massad ayoob now. for a little more i couldve gotten a WAR DOG! i am scrambling to get one in a tan handle. it really looks like a perfect knife and iv been dieing to get a hold of some infi!

No worries, you should be able to flip the Ayoob to a happy new owner and have cash in hand before your credit card gets charged for the War Dog, :)

I actually sold all of mine. There is only one I regret selling and I forgot the name of it but its basically a slightly smaller version of the Swamp Rat Ratmandu. I'm sure someone will chime in with the name.

Sounds like the Howling Rat Little Mischief (HRLM). Great little knife.

Yep that's it! It was a great knife, tan handle/sage blade. The ergos were just perfect, the G10 felt and looked great and it was the perfect size. Damn I just may try to find another one.

My first (and only, at the moment) is a HACK war dog. Not sure if it's going to be a user or not, though.

definitively use that war dog. id use it gently (for a war dog) but use it all the same. By using some pieces in my collection i really get an appreciation for them and sort of get it out of my system so it can be put out to pasture.

the hacks are limited to 12 pieces of each combo right?
