Well have not posted any projects in a bit but have a few things in the works. Ive been practicing my forging as much as I can (couple hours at a time here and there) and these are the latest candidates that I hope I will finish. First time working with some of these metals also.

The two larger blade things are from 1/4" W2 which I think I will really like forging as its very easy to work with compared to some other stuff. Have not fully decided on the profile for the blades yet but hopefully come up with something cool.

The smaller forged one is 1084 which is similar in shape to a blade I made before, just trying to do a better job this time around.

The little guy is forged from 1/4" 8670M and is almost ready for HT. Finish the tang profiling and then hopefully this guy will make a nice little puukko style blade.

I am still trying to get better at getting more of the blade finished with my forging but for now I am just happy getting a relatively smooth surface, straight blade, and good tapers where necessary. Thanks for looking and Ill update the thread as I make progress with these guys.

Thanks Joe,

By the way been admiring your knives this evening (very nice), I got a bunch of 52100 for forging later down the road and was looking at any HT info I could find.

Well thanks Quint!

For 52100 i use Ed Fowler's heat treat process of multiple quenches over multiple days. It takes awhile, but it is the best ive found. Ive cut alot of rope and broken alot of blades testing the different parts of the process and i havent found anything better.

The only thing that i do differnet is that i use my forge to heat the blade prior to the quenches, because im not as good with a torch as he is. But my forge has the burner coming in from the side, so i can get kind of the same effect as with a torch. Hope to get better with torch over this winter though.
