Behind the Scenes @ Fiddleback Forge 1/11/2017-??

Ivy! Freakin cuteness!

And I almost made a remarkably inappropriate comment regarding that toothed handled blade. Oh man...glad the filter sometimes still works.

Is that an Osage monach? I love the shape of that one, it's calling me.

I am VERY into the new Camelthorn handles we are putting out. Camelthorn is also called African Ironwood. It is as dense and hard as Ironwood, and has as much chattoyance. It has a lot more going on in the grain though. Dark specks and streaks run through the pieces we got. Camelthorn is very rare. This is why I am glad Justin helped us get three very large planks of it. I really love working it and it looks OUTSTANDING on the knives.

I LOVE my Camelthorn Ladyfinger, to me it is a beautiful wood. Ranked by Janka hardness Camelthorn is #3 in Africa and #24 in the world. Now that's some hard wood!

Just to add bit of history and backstory to this particular wood is that it came from Mozambique where it is now protected, meaning no more Camel Thorn to the States. These boards were the last from a container that came to the USA almost 10 years ago. The 3 boards Andy has are nothing short of phenomenal and once they are gone, that's it.
