I am amazed at what you guys accomplish in such a short period of time.

I'm diggin' the grind on that Asp a lot. Which blue phenolic is that Phillip?

So you basically have an ooze-covered workbench, with ooze-covered tools, and whoever draws the shortest straw has to work there? ;)

That's goo glue. Yes?

rethinks wondering aloud if FF would consider clocking the [natural] micarta pins.... Y'know, for the up-close purty pitchas.

It's not as bad as all that, but I wouldn't doubt the straw drawing or some other such ritual for choosing lol.

There are times that the grains in the pins just drive me bananas! that they aren't all lined up and going horizontal. Seriously, it does! I'm with Pert on that one and think it should be considered. Detail is paid attention on every other part of the knife .. just sayin'. Add $5 to each knife (or at least to the ones that I'd buy) to recoup the effort ;)

Sorry, OCD kicking in there. Meant to bring this up before and just never got around to it but I'm thankful it was mentioned .. and that I'm not the only one it hasn't occurred to.

Disclaimer: Degrees of OCD may vary and may be accompanied by fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat; severe dizziness or anxiety; unusual weakness; blurred vision, anxiety, confusion, chest pain, trouble breathing. Less serious side effects may include: loss of appetite; warmth, feeling restless or excited; sleep problems (insomnia); or skin rash or itching. This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Consult your physician for medical advice about side effects.

Lol, $5 per pin wouldn't even cover it. I have found that all pins, especially phenolic, tend to rotate slightly as they are driven in. That would be a nightmare :)

Oh hell, forget I even asked in that case. That would be a giant pain in the butt. Thanks for the reality/sanity check. :D

I like their random orientation. Being slightly misaligned would annoy me much more than being randomly angled. Plus, the curves of the handles would create optical illusions of mis-fit on different models.

Like I tell my wife......I'm not obsessive compulsive, I just need everything to go exactly where it is supposed to be. ;)

The mis-matched clocking of pins is much less noticeable with black pins. That is one of the many reasons I prefer black over natural for most knife purchases.

Bingo!!

Yes, a lot of us have OCD. This is one of the reasons why I prefer the black pins as well.

The only easy way I've found to align the phenolic pins is to keep it as a long rod and mark a line down the length of the rod then use an cordless drill to spin them in the holes and stop at the correct orientation... and even then due to the orientation of the layers it was slightly off

Thanks a lot guys... I never really noticed this, now my OCD won't let me unsee it

Maybe a Poll thread is needed to identify the degree of OCD-ness of the average Fiddlehead?
