Behind the Scenes @ Fiddleback Forge 11/30/2016-??

I don't mind it too much and I prefer the natural pins a lot of the time. I can be pretty OCD about some things, but the alignment doesn't bother me.

rethinks wondering aloud if FF would consider clocking the [natural] micarta pins.... Y'know, for the up-close purty pitchas.

:p

im not sure that one is going to gain any traction.:p

:D The goo was the clue, but others' words re: the spin problem give the venture a whole different perspective!

I have found that all pins, especially phenolic, tend to rotate slightly as they are driven in. That would be a nightmare :)

Whoa-- it sure would be!

Oh hell, forget I even asked in that case. That would be a giant pain in the butt. Thanks for the reality/sanity check. :D

And how....

I like their random orientation. Being slightly misaligned would annoy me much more than being randomly angled. Plus, the curves of the handles would create optical illusions of mis-fit on different models.

I absolutely agree.

Like I tell my wife......I'm not obsessive compulsive, I just need everything to go exactly where it is supposed to be. ;)

Well, duh! :D

The mis-matched clocking of pins is much less noticeable with black pins. That is one of the many reasons I prefer black over natural for most knife purchases.

I like the look of both kinds of pins, and love seeing the 'end grain' in the natural ones. The whole non-clocked thing doesn't actively bother me, although once noticed they do tend to catch one's eye. Phillip's picture today prompted me to Say. :)

Here is something Allen & I are working on together. If you follow me on Instagram you have already seen this.

More to come as time permits!
Thanks for looking.

Just want to say thanks for inspiring me to complete that bow saw project that I've had on the back burner for quite a while, unfortunately, it's a little smaller that I originally had in mind.

Maybe you could use it to buck your logs before you use the hatchet to split them?

Both of these photos make me want my G.I. Joe's ,with the kung fu grip, back again. :D

"OCD" aka "picking the fly poop out of the pepper " I confess to having it as well. Maybe black pins for the rest of my collection would help .

Very cool Diorama! I love the still life.

They don't bother me either. To me they are just one of the few fingerprints that help identify a particular knife from another of the same handle configuration. I don't notice it unless I am looking for it.

Nathan,

I opened this thread, saw the pic, and said out loud "Oh my God, I'm in so much trouble!".

Oh my God, I'm in so much trouble. And Allen knows it.

I just hope he holds on to a couple until after all the presents are bought, I can then get myself a present.

On the other hand, maybe my wife and 2 daughters would each like one of these. 😆

It's like he's making them just for you! :D

Stunning batch by the way Allen!

It's more like he's making them, and laughing at my reaction. He and Phillip are taking great joy in this, I'm sure. Every week I think I'm going to make it through this week without buying a knife,...and then
