I need one of those dashis and an EDU...

Thanks for the update and pics. You should play salt n pepper "push it" on a loud speaker when the mower is going

The second down is a new model, for the kitchen, raised handle for knuckle clearance. Third down is an loveless improved handle nessmuk, only done two of these before.

The new kitchen knife looks very promising Allen. What is the steel on that one?

Thanks!

Phil

Can you tell me the specs on that nessmuk with bolster and ruby burlap? The hiking buddy's in the picture are sweet too.

I applaud the new kitchen knife design.
I have just gotten a tojiro gyuto which my wife loves but I am not a chef ( I'd feel kind of funny toting a Tojiro to camp), and I'm looking for multi-use knives for camp and kitchen. I made up a set of steak knives last winter to give to myself and cough...cough the wife. It comprised of different handled knives like the Buck 102, CSC drop point hunter and some stainless GEC fixed hunters. Wife loves them and finds them more handsome than the more expensive Department store set she was considering. Guests love them. I think a couple of carefully chosen camp knives would look equally handsome doing duty in the kitchen.

One of the issues on using camp and hunting knives is the hand clearance and I am glad that Allen is addressing it. More power to him. What is the OAL of the new model? I was recently making a note to myself that the Woodsman and Toothpick would actually be a great kitchen knives if they were thinner and had the knuckle clearance. When you are cooking for only two people and occasionally 4, the weight of the knife really doesn't matter that much, although a tapered tang would bring balance more forward. The Arowana could also use some increased clearance but seems to satisfy others so far and is on my list...waiting for the budget to get in line. The Matador already looks like a perfect replacement to a Santoku.
