Sometimes I get a chance to really take a look at my life and I realize just how blessed I really am.
I got a chance to head to a gun show here in PA, I had been wanting to attend for some time, mainly because I knew Bob Andrews would be there. He is a dealer for one of my favorite companies, Great Easter Cutlery. The show was a lot bigger than I expected, lots of great knives and outdoor gear to look at. Bob Andrews had a huge selection of knives to look at and I enjoyed spending a good amount of time there at his table. Another awesome thing about the show was the opportunity to meet Ash, (AKA, Knife Crazied) she was helping Bob with his business and she was doing a great Job. He was lucky to have her with him and we are lucky to have her here as a member. Thanks for for the great time guys.

Another blessing was the willingness of my family to attend the show. They tend to go along with my crazy addiction and they again, proved that love knows no bounds. We walked through the whole show and spent a good amount of time looking at the many knives, along with the firearms and other equipment.

I hadn't planned on a knife following me home, but you know how that goes. :D
I fell in love with a number #85 Bullet End Jack. After being tortured by the beautiful forum knife and the awesome #85 that Kevin uses, I found an #85 to call my own. It's slick, placid buffalo scales spoke to me in a way that I couldn't shake, unfortunately it looks like someone may have dropped it after checking it out, it has a little crack. I mentioned that to Bob and he checked it out, at the time it was a deal beaker for me. Bob said it would make him a fine EDC and I couldn't have agreed more. As I was checking out the other knives Bob made me an offer, I couldn't resist it and instead of being in his pocket, it's in mine. Thanks so much Bob.

(I'll work on pics guys, I know you'll love seeing it)!!!

Too many great knives and not enough money, I wanted to bring a few in particular home, but the wallet didn't permit.

My Birthday is a long way off, but that didn't stop my brother from celebrating early and getting me an awesome present. He told me I could have any knife I wanted, I know, awesome brother. I walked from one end of the displays to the other and I couldn't make up my mind. Finally I decided to let my brother choose the one for me. I walked away and checked out the Blind Horse knives while my brother made his choice. He loves big knives, anything over 4'' and he is into it. Every knife he has gifted me has been bigger than the knives I buy myself, it's given me an awesome opportunity to test out the different models though. He picked a knife that spoke to me and I am blessed beyond belief my it.

A Stag #23.

The stag is night and day, but thats something I love about it. I have been wanting a clip bladed #23 for a long time and finally I have one to test and enjoy.

Bob Andrews threw in the Lanyard and I love it. It's been on the knife since I got it and in my pocket just as long.

Thanks again guys, I had a great time.

Nice knife from your brother and yes, Ash is a nice young woman. I think you're going to like that GEC #5 Drop Point/Shinner blade a whole bunch.

Looking forward to pics of your EDC Buffalo coverd knife too.

Sounds like a good time was had by all at the gun show.

Fantastic knife! And small world to boot. My wife just ordered me a stag 23 linerlock today. Photos to come shortly. Enjoy that beast, man!

Thanks guys, I am definitely enjoying the beast. It's first chore was saving it's owner from a tick, maybe short work of the little bugger too.

Here is the #85 that I got from Bob.

This knife is such a classic, I really am loving it. It won't get as much attention as it deserves though, the #23 is stealing the spot light in a big way.

cool story johnny and nice knives I know u will put them to great use aint deer and turkey season comming soon

Johnny,

Sounds like you and your family had a blast! I can understand the 23 capturing your attention! Its a great looking knife, and most importantly its from your brother.

The 85 will get it's turn though I would imagine. When it does I think you will be quite taken by it. I love my single blade but I would only think that secondary would add to the package in a good way. With a main spear blade a thin secondary blade becomes much more usefull IMHO.

Great pics as usual and thanks for sharing it all with us.

Kevin

Great knives!
Great family too...and I sort of know how you feel. My family has indulged my collecting addictions for a long time. They allowed me a day to walk around the Zippo/Case museum & gift shop and spend every dime I had set aside for such a trip. My wife also endured a day visit to the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors museum (outside Lancaster, PA...Pennsylvania is either an ideal state or dangerous state for knife, Zippo and watch collectors :D), she was bored to tears but allowed me to wander around babbling and drooling over their collection of vintage wristwatches.

Congrats on your latest acquisitions, and more importantly, your terrific family.

Cheers,
Griff

It was a pleasure meeting you Johnny. Bobs also very right you do clean up well. :D Enjoy the knives and lanyard. Bob is a very nice guy and I had a wonderful time learning from him this weekend. I'm hoping he allows me to tag alone again. :)

Griff, it's amazing that even though one person is the only one afflicted by an addiction, the whole family is willing to participate.
I'm glad to hear your family is awesome too.

Kevin, I will definitely find time to get that #85 into the pocket. I really do enjoy everything about the knife, I just can't wait to see how it holds up to the tests.
It will be in competition for my favorite Jack knife, so we'll see how it does.

Ash, I think Bob will have no problem with having you along, you were a great help. I had a great time meeting the both of you and hopefully I'll get the chance to see you guys at another show.
Thanks for all the help in showing off the merchandise.

Nice post johnny twoshoes. I've ordered a couple knives from Bob and he seems like a very standup fellow. I admit I am biased growing up in the Sovereign Mother (WV) myself, but most of the folks there are gold.

Part about your post I really related to was about brothers. I have a great one too and we have shared so many great times in the outdoors. He is always trying to set me up on the best stand, giving me the lowdown on the biggest buck, etc. Bottom line is that there is no replacement for a best friend who is also your brother.

Unlike your brother I have never been able to give my brother a knife he will actually use. He always talked about the really big stockman knife. I bought him one. It sits in his desk. He wanted a great hunting knife, I bought him a beautiful 1095 mountain man trapper. It has never been used. As far as I know he has only carried one pocket knife in his adult life, a Boker copperhead in 440C that he bought when he was 16. It is yellow handled and the shield has long since fell out. It has over 20 years of wear on it and he obviously has no intent on replacing it. Maybe some day I'll find him a knife he will actually carry but somehow I doubt it. :p

Congrats on a great outing.

Will

Thank you Johnny for sharing this... I have nearly the same, though I have no brother.

On May 2nd I have my anniversary with my wife. She´s gonna give me a GEC which I don´t know. I don´t know if it even has arrived.

What your brother gave to you is really great. :)

Kind regards
Andi

And may I say,the high point of the show for me,also, was meeting Johnny Two-Shoes,his brothers and Mother Two Shoes! Very refreshing to meet such a grounded, loving family in the hustle and bustle of our modern world. Mother Two Shoes, you have done a fine job in raising your sons. An asset to our community! I'm also glad Caleb got a chance to get a knife of his choice, and also a special gift from a special brother.
The other high point of the show, for me,was a chance to help Ash learn a little about the Show Trade. For her first show, she was VERY helpful. She's learning the ropes, and doing very well. Bright, eager and smart. That's a combination for success.
It was a great show all around, and some of my best customers stopped by,to look at knives, talk knives, and just to visit.
And in keeping with the topic of this forum,Traditional Knives,I'll say "Great Eastern Cutlery".

A fun show. Great family, friends and two awesome knives.

Sounds like my kind of favorite weekend.

I'm glad to see these quality knives getting put through their paces like they deserve. It saddens me deeply to see awesome knives boxed up and forgotten about in somebody's "collection".
