Whetrock, I use all my knives.
I have a hard time leaving them sit if they haven't had any use. I carry one everyday and I have lots of time to use them all. I love being able to enjoy a different knife every once in a while and if I'm going to enjoy a knife, it's going to be a good one.
Bob, thank you very much for the kind words.
It's always awesome to put a face with the name and meeting you in person was great. I haven't enjoyed a set up like I did your's in a long time, it was perfect. You knew where everything was and you were on top of everything new GEC has out. Seeing the different patterns that have escaped me was too awesome, I see some I want even more now.
Humppa, congrats on your anniversary.
My parents were married on the 2nd of May too. I hope you enjoy it whatever it is, I know you will for sure. I can't wait to see the new one out on a hike with you, can't wait to see it.
Will, are brother sound a bit alike. My brother enjoys gifting me knives and I enjoy sending a few his way as well, the thing about it is, is that he never uses the knife.
I gave him a GEC Mink Skinner and he never uses it. When we were getting ready to head to camp I gave it back to him and he acted as though he had never seen it before. To me it's a mystery, but it's probably just because I am a knife junkie and I think everybody else should be one too.
Kevin, now you have put me on the spot.
I really love my #56 Dogleg, it's fills my hand nicely and it's a great pocket pal, I never thought about comparing it or trying to beat it until I got my #66 Serpentine Jack. The two knives are really nothing alike, except for clip and pen blades as the blade of choice, other than that, they are worlds a part. The Serpentine is just incredibly comfortable in the pocket, not to say the #56 is intrusive or anything, it's just a little bulky when compared to the #66. It's a real toss up in deciding which is best. Now that the #85 has been thrown into the mix, I'm not sure I'll ever be able to pick a favorite.
The frame on the #85 is in a class of it's own, simply because it's a classic and it's executed so well. The upper hand for the #85 is the half stops, I love half stops and it's the only one out of the three that has them. The downside is the spear blade, I love clips and I never spend much time using a spear. After I get it in my pocket I am sure my opinion will change slightly.
