HI GUYS. For burr removal on a belt sander, do any of you have the blade face upward and into the belt ? (very light pressure) I have been trying this method and have gotten mixed results. Thanks.

No way I'd even think about attempting that - the thought of the blade catching and being tossed from my hands, and possibly into me, screams no. While you may think there's a slim chance, even with light pressure the blade is being pulled into the belt. That belt is probably moving a solid 2500-3500 RPM.

Edge trailing with a belt sander, regardless the grit, in my honest opinion. Get a leather stropping belt and use that to take the burr off. If you can't find one, get an old leather belt and load it with compound, and do it manually. Doesn't take long at all.

DO NOT do this. I haven't used a belt sander the "wrong" way BUT I did this on paper wheel which still cause the knife to catch and somehow come back up and slam into the side of my temple area and this was a kershaw outkast too. I could have seriously injured myself and just out of luck the blade turned at the last minute and the spine hit me Anyhow I know this isn't paper wheel but I still would be afraid of it.

Hell burr removal is easy stuff man, strop it or lightly run the edge over some soft wood (cutting it) if your lazy.
