Belt attachment for bench grinder

Thinking of getting something like this for my Delta 8 in. bench grinder. Anybody have any experience with something like this? Getting into knife making and I figured this might be better than my cheapo HF belt grinder and cheaper than some of the task specific grinders out there. Does the arm (or whatever it's called) swing up so the belt runs vertically or would I have to mount the grinder to the wall or something to get it to do that? Does it matter which side of the grinder I attach the belt to (If I want the belt to run the opposite direction, for instance)?

go to viel and look at the s-5 grinder under 100 without motor and you will have a nice 1x42 grinder, they have one that attaches to a grinder but I like the standalone better.

I like the Viel. I'm on my second one. The first one only lasted two years, but I run it ten hours a day at times.
I also have a KMG 2"x72" grinder. If knife making is what you want it for you should get something that size. It will also have the functions you will need.
I make knives as well and I couldn't imagine doing it on a little machine like the Viel or Delta.

I don't use it for making, I use it for sharpening. the viel would be good for a beginner to see if he wants to spend the money for a good kmg or bader. I have both in a 2x72. if he wants a grinder to attach to a bench grinder he wouldn't want to know the out the door price on the kmg nor bader, let alone the cost of wheels and other attachments.if he sticks and wants to put forth the dollars on a kmg or bader then he is a serious knifemaker not a hobby anymore.i sold a number of knives to pay for my grinders, anvils, forges etc, most were filed and ground on a wheel grinder till I could afford the good stuff. the old coal forge I still have but gas has replaced it for my use.
