Hey guys! So i finally ordered a pheer 427 and some belts and I am super pumped. I looked around for a good general use and care, something describing changing belts, tooling arms, general care, stuff like that. What I was wondering was if there are any good videos on general 2 by 72 grinder care and maintenance. Other than blowing out the motor and things like that, should i be oiling the wheels? changing springs? Thanks guys!

Your bearings should be maintenance free, sealed. Springs last until they don't spring as well anymore. Look at some of these guys' grinders in their WIPs. They are almost as horrible looking as the nut holding the blade! Just treat it like you'd treat any other metal tool. I don't think there is a whole lot else to say.

Get your self a Maltz brand cleaning stick for the belts and use them as if they were free. Trying to squeeze one more anything out of a belt usually means more work!

On the Platen, you may need to radius the edges on the sides so they are even for your plunge cuts on flat grinds and after a while you may need to flatten your platen! They can dish out where you make contact after 20-40 blades?

I use a 6" x 48" belt sander to flatten and dress the edges of my platen.
