Belt Grinder Help

I've picked up some new belts of late. Some ceramic, Trizact and some others to try out. The ceramic belts do run a bit cooler than your standard AO, Zirconiums and such. The Trizact are interesting. A whole other animal in comparison. More use and different grit belts will be needed to get a handle on those. I only got the 220 / A65 for now. At twice the price, or more, compared to other belts I'm starting slow on those. What I am really impressed with, for the money, are the Klingspor yellow belts. Very nice. I'll be picking up a bunch more of those soon. Also I'm becoming very fond of the felt belt I got for final polishing and burr removal. Best belts? Not sure that there is such a thing. Depends on the task at hand.

Really enjoyed meeting you and hope to get together again!

Other than 12 inches ....... whats the difference between a 30 in. sander over the 42 in. sander ??
Way does it seem that most use a 42 in. sander ??
Belt life mostly.

It's the difference between using a 1" x 1" square of sandpaper and using a 12" x 12" piece. It'll last longer because you have a larger area of abrasives. That also means your belt will stay sharper longer as well. I'd say the reason why we don't all go for 2x72 belt sanders is due to space limitations and the usually high cost of the machines.
