I have a Wilmont LB Grinder with a 1.5 HP Baldor and a VFD, for the life of me I cannot get the belt to track properly. It works but any belt I've tried oscillates about 16th of an inch side to side at any speed. I have tried everything, making sure all wheels are in line, replacing wheels, different belts. gas tension shock. The only thing I have not replaced is the tracking and Drive wheel the wheels are poly, is aluminum that much better? It's fine for stock removal but for profile grinds it just don't cut it. I'm looking for any help or suggestions. Thanks

What belts are you using?

and how old are they?

Has the belt been left under tension overnight on the grinder before?

I get that to and it's a belt problem. High quality belts track better then others but even some pricy belts do that as well.

Try more tension. Run the belt and manually pull up on the tensioning arm. If it gets better then order a stronger shock.

Scott, Hmmm? Poly are better than Aluminum and hard rubber the best. I don't think the wheel material is the problem. Have you tried putting a run of 1" masking tape in the center/crown of the idler wheel? I would also call Chris that made the machine. He may have so ideas?

Some are first time users a few have been left on overnight, Hermes J weight Flex and 3M 967 Ceramic? Also 3M Trizact and assorted others.

Mmmmm, I've tried all different belts and it seems to do it on everyone I've tried.

Tried that too, no difference.

Hey Laurence, I emailed Chris and his solution was to change belt brands, granted some belts do run better than others but it still does it on everyone. I have tuned this thing up as best that I could. I also have an 8" rubber contact wheel and the belts do it on that. Let me try the masking tape thing and see what that does.

Thanks Guys
