I have a Spring 1992 Volume 6 Knives Illustrated Magazine. On page 57 there is an ad for Northwest Knife Supply 621 Fawn Ridge Drive Oakland, OR 97462 There is a belt grinder on the ad, Model 72-10 motor not included. Was wondering if the business has moved, since the phone number no longer works, or did they close for good. Also, did they make the belt grinder or does someone else still carry it? Looks like a great grinder and shouldn't cost us knifemakers an arm and leg! Anybody that has any info... would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Knifeman

I don't know what happened to Northwest Knife Supply. They used to be at the OKCA shows, but I haven't seen them recently...

However, in the Feb 2000 issue of Knives Illustrted on p 86 is an advertisement for those sanders, sans motors:
N.E. Coote Tool & Machine
231 Mats View Rd
Port Ludlow, WA 98365
360-437-0366
They are the manufacturers of the Coote sander and advertise four models which range in price from $285 to $398 plus shipping.

I know of several makers who use these sanders, but don't know what they think of them.
Hope this helps,
Wapiti

Thanks very much guys! As always, this site is very helpful and wish I could spend the time to read all the articles of the past, but it is fun looking up interesting stuff when I can. Thanks again, knifeman www.knifemann.com
