Belt Grinders question

i just found this and i think i can use it for my grinders. now i can turn one into a normal bench grinder and the other into a buffer. wont get a bandsaw for a while until i have enough money so for now if i want to cut some metal i just need to use my 4' angle grinder with a cutoff wheel.

Use the search function for "belt grinder" and you'll learn everything you need to know.

for now i went with the HF 1x30 with 5" disc. once i get the cash again im going to guy a better one. hopefully a 2x72.

Mr. Squee, the one thing that is going to help you out more here in the beginning, is to carefully read everything you find on Dan Grey site. Also, his sticky at the top of this forum, contains a wealth of info for you, in fact, for me, and everyone. Now, details like transfering funds from one of your bank accounts to another of your accounts, won't be there since it doesn't pertain to knifemaking. Once you mentioned the forge you were building, and in another you were going to San Antonio to get some Stainless steel. Again, reading Dan's info may stop you from making a mistake there, incase you were going to try to forge the SS. I've been watching your posts, and you're certianly motivated, that's for sure, and we all were the same way in some respects. Most of us did a lot of reading in the early years, and in fact, most of us still do today. This is just a friendly comment to help you sort out your journey so that you can focus on one general path, instead of being out of focus on many. We're all here ready to help, and Lord knows I've received a lot of help here.

George, is this the one you're talking about? http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/prod...rtical=TOOL&subcat=Sanders&BV_UseBVCookie=Yes
Sorry for hi-jacking the thread, but I'm just getting started and I need to know what kind of grinder to start with as well (without killing my wallet). Thanks.

It is my understanding is that this is no longer being made/purchased.I got thefloor model at my local store for $90. It OK to start with but is very fast! That limits it usefulness some what. With that said I think it is better than the 1X30's out there. I do not regret my purchase.

browse your local pawn shops. I found a craftman grinder like the one you want from HF for about 1/2 that price.
