Belt knife recommendation

I also have the crkt hunt n fisch. Small, comfortable, horizontal leather sheath. It's a good inexpensive system.

Belt knives are for outdoors men and outlaw bikers who use them to fight with. Get a good folder with a pocket clip and look normal in society. I myself like my Steel Will Cut Jack in D2. Carrys nice and lite and slim.

Read again. The OP spends a lot of time in NYC. Folders with pocket clips are an invitation to be arrested.

OP - you didn't mention what your budget was, but if they are not too expensive I would also recommend the Arkansas Made Dozier models for your consideration. These knives have straightforward designs, proven materials and the best horizontal Kydex sheath you will find.

Unless I am at work I have one of these on my belt under an un-tucked shirt:

Food for thought. Good luck on your quest.

What is your budget for this knife? The featherweight hunter by Bark River is a nice option. You would have to change the sheath configuration if you want to carry sideways though.

My budget is $200 or less. I don't want a mirror finished blade that will get scratched. Nor a Damascus for the same reason. And being outdoors in all types of weather i would even consider a weatherproof nylon or other material for a sheath. I'm looking for utility not flash. Not saying those things are not worthy! Just not for me for what I'm looking for.

Update! I ordered a neck knife from Amazon to see if I can tolerate wearing one. I see that regardless of style of knife that it MUST be concealed in NYC of which I spend some time in. If I find I can deal with it I will look into something better. Thanks again for the tips! Just to say again that NYC requires that any knife be concealed unless your in the process of using it in a legal manner.

Needs it to be 3inch overall length or blade length ?

Anyway here some little fixed knives:

I got 2 coming. Under 2 inch and a 2 1/2 inch to see how it works out. Thanks for the links!

FWIW, I tried the Featherweight Hunter a couple years ago - it fit me exactly wrong. I contacted BRKT about getting the offending section ground down; and they said it could not be done due to the way the tang was skeletonized. (Glad I went that route, as opposed to doing it myself.)
I have, accordingly, been afraid to try any of the other featherweight models.

I'll be interested to see how the OP likes neck carry (I don't find it convenient, personally)

Haven't seen the CRKT scrub mentioned. I find it quite versatile in both usage and method of carry. Darn inexpensive also.
