I use ceramic 40-->ceramic 120 --> 220 compact grain.

Keeping the blade cool helps. Short light grinding helps, cbn belts last longer. In the end belts are probably your biggest cost. No way around it unless your setting up a machine shop (even more expensive at the beginning).
