I am looking for a belt or molle pouch the right size to carry a couple of field guides.
The largest book is 6 X 9 inches.
It would not hurt if were priced reasonably also.
Thanks for your help.
Sharp Eye -- Just a couple of extra questions for you:
Based on your field guides, what target depth (3rd dimension) would you need or limit yourself to? Have you considered and eliminated haversacks or shoulder strap possibles bags as well?

Yeah a small messenger/possibles bag is great for that sort of thing. You can stick a couple field guides in there along with some munchies and other things without taking your pack off and diggin around lookin for something.
Thanks for the input.
I am looking for a thickness of 2-3 inches.
Have not tried a shoulder bag for this purpose but for the most part I prefer a belt pouch to a shoulder bag for most things.
Not sure it fits the category of reasonably priced though - depends what you mean by reasonable.
I have the smaller version (medium, about 8"x6"x3") fixed to one side of my Sabrecat to hold my binocular. It's nicely made and seems quite robust. Ranger green is a decent colour.
I have a shoulder bag (it's on the cheap side but built well enough to use so you could get one to try and if you don't like it it's no big deal) that I got from major's surplus. It's called a multi pocket shoulder bag and it's about the perfect size for what you're wanting. It also has several pockets on the outside of the flap so that you can store little things that you don't always need but always need to know where they are.
