Simple Green is a really strong cleaner and (not quite as strong) degreaser. I think he's trying to keep his belts clean by coating them so the metal doesn't build up on the belts. But it's kind of odd to me. It's so strong that I generally only use it diluted. My everyday cleaning solution of Simple Green is 15 parts water to 1 part Simple Green and it's quite effective. 10:1 is strong enough for a lot of tasks. You really only need 1:1 or pure Simple Green for serious degreasing or really, really dirty stuff.

Anyway, not totally sure why he's using it. When my belts start to show some metal, I use a belt cleaner on them. The one that looks like a giant eraser. Fast and easy.
