What's the difference between the two? I have a 1" belt sander and was wondering if it could be used to make a stock removal blank. I've also got a 6" bench grinder/buffer if there's some way to adapt it, or just use the wheel and get a decent piece.
I've also got a 1/5hp motor from another 1" sander I stripped for parts, but I don't think 1/5hp is really enough to be useful.
My little shop is coming along nicely and a forge and oven is next on the list. Most importantly since it's way below freezing every night, the furnace has been ordered

"Usually" constructed sturdier. Look at the thread on grinders and you see the first one I posted? That's on a 6" grinder.
