Those of you who have seen my posts about me working on a device to hold an angle while you grind wait no longer. I finished it today, and will still post the tutorial on how to make it, as I promised.
This is the tutorial

Here it is!

The total cost to make one is approximately $11.00
Email me if you would prefer I make it for you.

That's pretty cool. Is that leather on the inside?

FYI, you can't sell on this forum so you might want to take that part out. You can get a "Knifemaker" membership and sell in the appropriate forum though.

Oh yeah, you adjust the wing nuts to change the angle of the blade against the grinder.

I am switching one thing in it. Now I will be using 2 1/2 inch hinges instead. They are easier to find in the style I need.

I have also decided that a slot is unnecessary for the back. A simple hole works just fine.

So has anyone tried making one of these things? I've been asked by a few members to make them one, and so far I only have one shipped.

I haven't made a knife with it, as I do not have the right steel, but I do have a throwing star (16 edges to grind AAHHH!!) so I'll post a pic of that.

Sorry the lighting is bad, but the grinds are very consistent.

Hi Mike,

Looks like you've got an excellent idea.....will you just turn the knife end for end in the jig when grinding the opposite side?

Yes. You just unscrew the front plate, slide the handle out, and flip it around, so it sticks out to the other side, and just grind in the opposite direction.

Got it today. Looks good. Only one problem and that is it won't take a blade wider than 1 1/8". Most of my blades are at least 1 1/4" or bigger. I removed the upper screw and used a pair of vise grips for the upper clamp and it looks lik it might work. I would let guys know the blade width restriction.

I meant to mention that somewhere, but a customer emailed me that.
