belt tension on NWG

Hey everyone I finally finished my NWG and this being my first 2x72 I am curious as to how much tension should be on the belt. I am using one of the door springs from lowes and it gives pretty good tension. The grinder tracks very well I think. I am just not wanting to put too much tension on the belts although not sure if that would shorten the life span of them or not. Pretty sure that I will wear them out grinding on them vice putting too much tension on them but I dont know so would like some more experience to help me out.

Thanks.

My suggestion is ditch that door spring. Tracking will suffer without enough tension. I went to home depot and got a 60lb spring and never looked back.

You will be much happier and run a very tight belt. That is key for good tracking

Sorry I call it a door spring, its the same as in that picture you posted. Good to know.

Nice looking grinder by the way. I think the next one I build is going to be more on the lines of the one you have there. Ofcourse now that I have one who knows when that will be.
