Hi guys, I was hoping you could help me with an issue that I am having. I am using a 36 grit blaze ceramic belt and I noticed while using it that it looks to bowing inwards in the center. Like the edges of the belt are cutting more than the center. I am using a fairly new belt and I have a 2 inch x 8 inch flat platen with ceramic glass epoxied to it. I was curious if anyone else has had this issue.

Out of curiosity, is your top idler wheel rubber or aluminum?
Do you use your top idler wheel for a contact wheel sometimes?

How tight is the belt on your platen. When I adjust my platen pull it out till it touches a tight belt and then push it further.

i put the platen slightly less than 1/8" in front of the wheels. hold a ruler on the platen to check the distance from the wheels. that should keep the belt flat.

If it's bowing on the width you have a problem with the platen itself. If it's bowing on the length you have a platen placement problem. If it is a used belt, sometimes the mineral abrasive is worn in the middle of the belt and will show up as a bow in grinding something flat.
