Hey I was wondering if what kind of belt you used for your grinder really makes that much difference. And if it does what kind or brand
does everybody use? And what grits. I bought 3M xbaking 60,120,220,320,and 400. also got 3M microfinishing in 15 micron and 3M trizact
A16~1200 grit and A6~2000 grit. Also were is the best place to buy them?

You have a good start with what you have.

I went to trugrit good prices, but I don't know what to order. I read a Lovess book and he said he goes from 60 to 220. I ordered two of each of what I said before. that is just to get me started What grits do I really need.

I have a slightly underpowered grinder so I use 36 grit ceramic for profiling and heavy stock removal. From there it's 50 grit Zirconia or 60 Grit Ceramic, then 220 grit ceramic, then 400 and 600 AO (usually Jflex).
I have been trying A36 and A16 Trizac, and I'm not sure what to think about them yet.

The best prices for abrasive belts ive seen is through PIERCE ABRASIVES. The belts are very good quality. I dont have the address or phone # handy, but look in Knives Illustrated, there should be an ad for them.

I found a place that has cheap belts, but didn't know if they were worth the trouble? They just tell you the grit and what they are made out of but not who made them.Didn't know if it really made a difference. Will look again. Also I think I might need some in 36 grit.
