I am just getting back into knife making and there sure is a lot of selection on belts for my 2x72. Can some one give me some advise.Thank you in advance.

Sure

Ceramic belts are by far the best for metalwork. Good ones come fromNorton and 3M... fair or poor ones from elsewhere. The performance only stands out to maybe 220G. After that, structured abrasives - also by Norton and 3M are outstanding for metaal work up to about 2500 grit!

For woodwork or other handle materials, there are aluminum oxide and Zirconia belts. They last pretty ggod on these materials and are pretty economical. Many manufacturers, and you tend to get what you pay for. The zirconia is the middle ground, l,asting well and costing only a bit more.

Stiffer (Y or X weight) last longer and flexible (Y weight) conform to contours better.

Ther is so much more than there was 10 years ago. You are going to have fun - unless you want a clear answer. :D

:D I guess how long depends on traffic and construction. We're about 40 minutes NW of the airport - or about 25 minute North of McKays Ice Cream in Cochrane.

Call before you come. Between us we have 16 kids so you just never know for sure if we're here.
