Hey guys. I'm new to the forum, but have been making knives for a few years. I have been using a little 1x 30 belt sander, and am wanting to step up. I am currently in the process of building my own 2x 72 belt grinder........Anyways to the question. What brand, grit, etc belts does everyone use when roughing in grinds. If anyone wants to also post what kind of belts they use for finish grinding, by all means do so.
Thanks for any help,
Jim

pops supply has some 60 grit economical belts , they work great for me , I get a lot out of them .

If you're hogging metal I would start with the 3m cubitron II 984f belts, I'm 36 grit. I switch to 60 grit when I start getting close.

Rough with 40, clean with 60 and 120 pre heat treat. After clay and quench 60,120, a65 240 trizact, and the a45 400 trizact

alot will have to do with what speed and power your grinder will have to know what belts will work best. I use norton blaze belts run fast as I can with a 1.5 hp
