Ben Seward, JS ~ Carbon Fiber Fighter

I think the ergonomics of the handle are really going to take off Ben, great for any big knife.

Thanks, guys! And in light of the 'Imitation' thread. If anyone wants to try this handle, go for it! Maybe I'll buy the knife;)

Fantastic on so many levels!!!

Love the hamon and I am a carbon fiber nut (the world of bikes and cars did that to me). How does this knife balance? Ben, is there a hunk o' tang steel in the CF as the handle material itself is so lightweight?

The sculpting of the handle is out of this world and Ben's description of "form follows function" in a fighter is cool. That little touch of blue with the bits of color in the carbon fiber are subtle and really add to the overall appeal. Also, really nice sheath to round out the package! Great score, Big Rick! Congrats!!!

Thanks once again, Caleb, for presenting this knife and sheath combo in a way that enables us to enjoy them virtually!

Balances about an inch and a half forward of the guard. That's where I like my big knives to settle in. It's light and fast in the hand but with enough snap toward the tip so that the knife almost drives itself. I don't think that the carbon fiber is much if any lighter than something like ironwood. I believe it's just a lot stronger than other materials so that you could use less and be lighter without compromising strength.

Ben, you are so right with what you say. The applications we use it for in the F1 race car industry, we use much thinner cf than what you do for handles.
Say 1/8" thick each side of 3/4" aluminium honeycomb is equivalent to 1/2" thick aluminium and a fifth of the weight for the same strength.

 WOW... that is pure eye candy! :D Beautiful work to both of you guys, Ben and Caleb. I swear Caleb, you really know how to bring these knives to life, you have a great eye and gift for bringing out the true beauty and details in them  Hey Ben, what are the little gold strands I see in the carbon fiber when I zoom in? It doesn't looks like LS CF to me, is it a reflection or some other version of CF? Thanks for sharing guys! :)

It does have a touch of gold to it. I think it's in the epoxy. I kinda like it though.
