OKay so I want to start getting into sharpening. I have never sharpened ever before with a stone. So i am thinking about getting either a DMT fine/extra fine stone OR a 1200 king and a 6000 king together. Or should I just get a ultra fine spyderco ceramic. I feel like the DMT would be my best bet but I heard mixed reveiwes on them. Then there is also the king stones, but i dont really want the hassle of flattening them. I can only get one stone(besides the two king stones). What would you do if you could only buy one or two stones for a sharpening. also i wont be sharpening a dull knife they will always be sharp. I will probably get a strop later but now i just want to get into the hobby of sharpening

I am very happy with my King 250/1000. It's not the highest grade waterstone on the market, but it has already turned out some REALLY sharp edges for me. The 250 cuts pretty quick for reprofiling, or just for setting an edge quickly, and the 1000 leaves a very sharp, but slightly toothy edge, just the way I like it. Flattening them isn't really a big deal. I just keep a piece of 1/4" plate glass ($11 at my local glass shop) and some 220 grit wet dry sandpaper nearby. I give them a quick lap and flush every little bit so they won't be too dished out, and they're good to go.
