Hi, I'm looking at getting a new EDC knife, and after looking around I think I've come down to the benchmade griptillian and the ZT 0566, any recommendations on which one I should get, or any suggestions as to another knife in that price range, Thanks!

Check out the Spyderco paramilitary 2, Manix 2, and Gayle Bradley.

In this case, I'd go with the ZT, as the Grip is just a little too light for my tastes due to its lack of steel liners.

For a better Griptilian you could go with the brand new Doug Ritter RSK MK1 StoneWashed M390 Blade (Knifeworks Exclusive) with stainless liners for added strength. The blade is 3.44" vs. 3.25" on the ZT 0566. ZT 0566 is quite a bit heavier at 5.3 ounces vs. only 3.82 ounces for the RSK.

0566 blows the grip line out of the water, IMO. And they're pretty cheap too. I found mine for 114 shipped about a month or two ago. I personally don't mind mini grips, but the full sized ones are too hollow feeling for me. I know they're both strong, but I just like the feel of the ZT better
The steel is also arguably better on the ZT, so there's that

Good luck :)

I have both and I can't part with either one. If I was forced to sell one tho, I'd probably let the mini go. The 566 is as great knife. It's built like a tank and it is really a perfect size. I think if you can get both in your hand to get a feel, that might help your decision.

I've had both and sold the grip. I love the zt, it carries well and feels good I the hand. It does take a while to break in so if you buy it give it some time. For a few weeks at least it was very stiff to both open and close but once it's broken in its good. There's a few threads on here about deassisting it but I actually like the assisted opening.

The grip is a good knife and very easy to open but I could never get over the cheap feel of it. Yes, you can buy custom grips for it or buy the Ritter version but hen you are looking at a substantial rise in cost.

Thanks to Everyone who helped me with this decision, and after thinking, I'm gonna go with the ZT, Thanks Again Everyone!

There are better options from Benchmade than the Griptillian. I personally prefer the speed of the Axis lock.

ZT 0566 for 110 more or less is definitely better than a normal grip for 100 more or less. Hands down.

Good choice. The ZT 566 blows the Grip out of the water! It's the true "goldielocks" knife, not too big, not too small :D

I recommend that you take a little time to explore the ZT lineup.I suggest you take a look at the 0562 and 0562CF.The 0770 CF is a really nice option also.Save a little more money and give it some time and you should be happy with your decision.Research before you purchase....Best of luck......

I really dig BM and was my first real "good" knife but I recently acquired a zt550 and the knife is incredible in every way.

Had both, but only kept the grip...... Though it is a M4 griptilian, so it's not really a fair comparison.

Standard Grip or the 0566 would get the ZT i think. Just better feel to it. I wish standard grips were made with G10 or micarta instead of the clunky plastic. Limited edition grip like this one VVV i'd take over the ZT. Gripitilians are from from my favorite Benchmades although like them very much. Would look at other Benchmade models also.
