Benchmade 2011 Catalog

i think kershaw is blowing them away, they have many new & cool designs, & much more reasonable pricing.

This seems to be the popular concensus. Still, I'm going to grab a 14411 Soldat. Plunge-lock manual folder in N680 steel. Anyone have any experience with N680?

To be honest, the thing that looks the most The plastic handles (Valox?) of the 580 were a turn-off, but the handle upgrade of the 581, not to mention the M390 Supersteel could make this one a real winner. If only it were non-assisted; an assisted AXIS lock seems contradictory to me, since the AXIS is so quick to open anyway, and just as quick to close, except that assist makes closing it with a wrist flick impossible.

My thoughts exactly.

Another vote for the 860 manual..... Just gonna take some time savin up. Hopefully they won't discontinue it before I have the cash:rolleyes:

As great as the customizable Griptilian appears to be, wouldn't you have to end up buying the Grip at MSRP versus cheaper through a retail? I was playing around with the customization and a Griptilian would cost me $145.

The 581 Barrage looks promising though. Yep. It remains to be seen if and how many people are going to pay that much for a potential steel upgrade, and cosmetic options. Also, it would have been nice if they'd offered an option for different handle material (i.e. G10) but I suppose that would jack up the price even further -- besides which, at this point, that seems like an impossible thing that could never happen.

Good thing there aren't a lot of models to thrill me...going back to school this year and the belt's going to be tight as a result. The models that interest me are the small Lum 746, the HK 'Soldat' 14410, and maybe the 581...we have to leave room for the unknown Shot Show special always revealed after the show (or before.)

I do like the looks of the 470 Emissary. The design is almost identical to my little (long discontinued) 773, but the specs show that it is just a tad larger (3.0" blade vs. 2.8" on the 773.) Nice, sleek look.

If it came in G10, I might be willing to actually pick one up. The current handles just feel so flimsy and "clackity" to me.

And where is there news of the 707 being discontinued?

+1
Great way to waste a great knife design. It would be such a seller if they made one without the AO mechanism. After all, it is an Axis lock knife :o
The mini onslaught might be something worth buying. Otherwise, another year without me buying any Benchmades...

Dunno if anyone else noticed the new variants and sheath of the Rant fixed blades. I was thinking about picking one up late last year, but the leather sheath put me off. With the addition of the MOLLE sheath, and the steel change to 440C, I might consider picking one up, assuming the price point is the same as last years model.

I like the new barrage as well, probably will pick one up and see if I could tinker with it and remove the A/O mech...

The new Paul designs look interesting as well. I still need a Ruckus and a model 42 Balisong though... those might take priority.

I like a lot of the new designs, but I still am in love with the Rift. If I could find a CF M4 version, I would forgo the new models. The rift fits my hand so perfectly it is scary...

The AO mechanism is incredibly easy to remove. You just open up the knife, then remove the coil spring, and reassemble. I'd suggest removing the safety at the same time (the slidey piece and the bendy piece), since you won't need it anymore.

It's like a 5 minute job.
