Benchmade 275 adamas

I took mine completely apart last night to clean it up, and just to check it out. Everything was fine and it went back together like a fine Swiss watch, with all parts lined up as before. What I did notice were some small areas on the back side of the G-10 slabs that appear black. I'm wondering, and I know I was asked this in another thread---to which I replied they were tan, if these grips started life as black G-10 and then were Cerakoted tan? It sure looked that way from the black areas on the back side of the material. Not that it really matters since I like the tan color and the texture of the grips, just curious. Guess it would be less expensive to Cerakote black G-10, than to use tan G-10?

I got the tan model in today... no numbering.

This beast is impressive. I've had my share of Striders/Hinderers/ZT/etc... and was really happy to see what I'd call a 'beefy folder' with an Axis lock. Benchmade QC was fantastic on my specimen. The grinds look good, smooth action, shaving sharp. Very impressed. My only concern is the coating. It does seem to be a tan coating rather than tan G10. I'm thinking it will chip and scratch, but not that big of a deal - I like the tan :-)

Hi All,

Just got a second hand, LNIB, pre-production Adamas from a fellow BF member. Started fiddling with it today and promptly broke the pocket clip. I had intended to slightly loosen the pocket clip tension like I've successfully done on more than a dozen other BM folders by gently working the clip away from the knife with the tip of a finger. As soon as I got a little purchase with my middle finger tip and started pulling up - Snap. I'm guessing it was lifted about 1/8"-3/16" when it broke. Anyway, pretty lame IMO, to equip this knife with such a fragile clip... YMMV (ended up replacing the clip with an older sturdier BM clip)

Wow that's terrible! The low rider clip is supposed to be a selling point for this knife. I know benchmade will send out another one if you ask, no charge, but that's still upsetting. What a bummer man :(

I never really got into low rider clips so whether a knife has one or not isn't a deal breaker for me. The clips on my BM Infidel and BM Bedlam are both low riders but those "feel" totally different than the OEM clip on the Adamas. The Adamas clip "feels" "stiff" and "painted" (whatever coating there is on the clip feels like it was painted on and "thick"). The other clips "feel" "springy" and "clean" (those coatings feel more like they are anodized and "thin" rather than painted). The Adamas clip doesn't "feel" like spring steel, it "feels" (and snapped) more like it was cast (only).

The last time I called BM for assistance was back when Angie was still working CS - she took care of me above and beyond. I'm pretty sure BM would send me a new one but I wouldn't want another one like that.

Besides that, the knife is great (thanks again)! :) Purists cover your ears but I'm hoping to find some time to take my dremel to it and make it feel better in my hand... :D

I got my Benchmade 275 adamas in today, and there are no reviews out there yet so I thought I would give my impressions on it to get some knowledge out there.

Overall:
The knife is very beefy. It is thick and blocky but very ergonomic somehow. It really fills the hand up though. The holes do take off a good bit of weight but it is still pretty heavy. However even with the handle milled out I find that it isn’t very blade heavy at all. In fact most of the weight of the knife is in towards the back of the knife. There is a very large lanyard hole it appears to be the same size if not bigger than the lanyard hole on the paramilitary 2. The lock up is very solid and the axis allows the blade to deploy very easily. Due to the heavy blade I find the retention isn’t as good as some of my other benchmades but it isn’t really a problem. The axis lock has been beefed up to be 25% stronger and it is very noticeable. I cant really disengage the axis lock with one finger like I could others.

Blade:
This blade is pretty thick but not super thick it looks just right. There is a lot of belly on this knife, which is a huge plus for me. I also like the look of the fuller that they added to the blade. They used D2, which has become one of my favorite steels lately. This knife was one of the first benchmades that I got that would push cut receipt paper out of the box so that made me really happy.

Pocket clip:
In the stock photos is shows the knife with one of the arrow pocket clips, but this knife uses a fold over deep carry pocket clip. I actually really like this clip and it allows it to ride low but not so low that you have to dig it out.

I think benchmade really knocked it out of the park with this knife. I think it would be a little overkill for EDC but it would be right at home in the woods or if you use your knife for some hardcore day to day tasks.

I forgot to take pictures but if anyone is interested in the sheath and attachment piece it came with I will snap some. Thanks for reading let me know if you want to see or know anything specific!

What's the knife shown in the picture under the spyderco?

Absolutely LOVE the BM Adamas.

Have several; both plan folder and Auto.

Tough dependable folder. Very happy with the D2 as well.

Auto folder really aggressive in opening so beware.
