it's pretty noticeable and affects the feel of the knife in hand. I was wondering if i could somehow just sand it down or something to make it even... i plan on getting it custom duracoated and i want it to be even at that point. i'm assuming sending it in won't help because it's probably "in spec" even though the quality is poor.... i know it's not a sebenza but it should at least have good build quality. Just wish i could trade it for a Sage 1 because it was the same price at the time and has better build quality... but i'm happy with it if i can get it to have a good backspacer. other than that it's a fantastic knife.

If you can post a picture you'll probably recieve better advice. Also, trading is always an option.

If this uploads then great. if not i can't post one. It's hard to tell with the bad camera but it runs the whole length of the spacer and it's noticeable from arm's length and creates an obvious difference in the shading.

I have never heard of Benchmade pulling the 'within spec' business. If you aren't happy with it they will work on it. I'm not familiar with the knife but you might even be able to get standoffs instead of the backspacer if you like them better by sending it in and requesting them. If it is an AO it might not be possible though, but they can always put a new back spacer in. I'm sure you can sand it as well but you might scuff up the spine of the handle. If it is going to get coated it shouldn't matter though.

right.... hmmm... what do you mean by standoffs? i've sent the knife in twice already and don't want to ship it out again... but i might
