Ok, despite the ironic name given Benchmade's social media catastrophe, I'm really excited about this knife. I just ordered a Protech TR5 but I'm going to be pre-ordering this one as well. Hopefully this means we'll be seeing some more 3V in Benchmade's line up.

I think I'm going to wait for reviews or to see what is next in BM ultralight family. I like their usage of 3V. I think the aluminium pommel could be functional, but seems kind of counter productive with a deepcarry pocket clip. Not a huge fan of tanto, and benchmade really needs to start using DLC on their blades.

I hope you hurry up and get it so you can tell us how it is. If it passes muster, then I'll make the jump.

I admit, this is a head scratcher to me. On paper, it all seems interesting. But the sum of the parts doesn't really add up, in my opinion. A tanto in 3V attached to Grivory scales with an aluminum pommel..? I feel like it's selling the 3V a bit short. The performance you'll get from that steel won't be remotely shown in that format, I feel. Additionally, what is the point of the aluminum pommel? Strike it on anything and it'll deform. I don't get it. And this is coming from someone who owns a 535 Bugout. I dunno, I guess I'll have see some reviews to see what others think.

I'm with this guy.

Looks great, 3V is exciting, and the pommel looks like it could maybe pry a little.

Buuuuut....

I like the knife, but I thought that the “pommel” was an attachment point to dangle the knife. A pommel, it is not.

I think that it would be a handle little knife that would keep an edge well. I do not see it prying anything or using the “pommel” to pound anything.

I love everything about this knife except the coating. They have duped me into buying enough $200 knives that look like crap in 6 months of use.

ok, I have to admit I like the general ideal of the 537 a lot, but mostly due to the 3v... the pommel not being Ti is a disaster imho, it's right up there with the naming choice

I have been carrying and abusing a Kershaw Knockout on duty and keep my Benchmade Altitude stashed away for support hand draw in case things get fubar. I bought a bugout for my brother in law and love how light weight it is. I just wasn't crazy about either color combination or the idea of paying for aftermarket scales.

I'm not a steel snob but I've been wanting to try 3v for awhile now. After watching test videos of guys hammering through nails with minimal edge damage I was sold. While the strength of the steel may seem wasted on a ~2oz folder, I would rather have overkill than not good enough.

As far as the pommel and tanto blade? Meh, I could take it or leave it. I would have preferred a 3.5 inch drop point with some jimping on the spine like the Altitude but oh well. For the cost of a bugout after Benchmade's Military/Law Enforcement discount this one is a no brainer for me.

It's a show piece. Namely an instagram pocket dump piece. Cool tanto blade with "3V" boldly printed on it for all your followers to see. A cool protruding metal pommel... that won't actually work. It will look exceptional on a hanky.

This seems like a pure cash grab and utter nonsense. What use is 3v and a pommel in that knife?

Unless I'm mistaken, it shares the linerless design of the bugout; so they've added impact resistant steel and a blunt impact tool to a knife with little structural rigidity... silly.

The Bugout is a great knife and a tanto version would've been fine, but 3v and a pommel doesn't make any sense.

IMHO I think this is the wrong platform for 3v. Lets face it most people who rave about 3V are the same kinda people who enjoy beating on knives with wood, to cut up even more wood! Lol. So combine a super tough tool steel with a flimsy liner-less plastic handle = a fail.
It would be more interesting if they came out with something like a Presidio 2 in 3v

Damn you! That part almost had me spitting the pop out I was taking a drink of at the time :D:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

It's good to see they begin to use 3v on folders...but it's absurd to use it on a bugout-like model.
I want it on an Adamas!

The Adamas seems to be both a more appropriate and a more sensible application. Yeah sorry, Benchmade. Just not into this one.

Lots of people hating on a knife that isn't out yet. It's not an absurd looking knife. The marketing isnt crazy like that tactical two handed opening style they had months ago. It could end up surpassing the bugout for all we know.

Tantos and black knives just really get people riled up.
