Benchmade 537 Bailout

I like the looks.. BUT.. not the price.. or design thought process.
3V is nice but as said, why is an impact steel in a linerless plastic knife?
The aluminum pommel.. smh.
They should make it linerless G10 if going with 3V and want to keep the weight down.
Or go with D2, since it's coated, with the plastic to keep the price down and make it $80 or less

Grivory really isn't that bad. I've had a Grizzly ridge and it was much more solid than a griptillian.

D2 ain't tough

I think they said in a meeting room... What can we make that will sell. Oh yea 3v is so op. Yea, let's put a tanto on it, that will sell good. OK get marketing in here we'll make some cool video that's sure to convince people to buy these. And that's how this was created.

It's just extremely odd to make a knife like this. I don't condone it but with how knife trends work it's gonna go viral and sell like hot cakes.

Makes sense to do after the fiasco they just had.

I like they're riffing off the Bugout but agree this seems like a camel designed by marketing. The 3V is just going to drive the price without utilizing the benefits of 3V. The tanto doesn't swear me off the knife but again doesn't really add anything to it. I like the pommel for just having something to smack with in a pinch.

ok, I have to admit I like the general ideal of the 537 a lot, but mostly due to the 3v... the pommel not being Ti is a disaster imho, it's right up there with the naming choice

Those soldiers in the video better watch where they lay their rifle down at, otherwise good looking knife

 The choice of 3V in this knife confused me too.

I love everything about this knife except the coating. They have duped me into buying enough $200 knives that look like crap in 6 months of use.

Yeah, how have they not moved to DLC or PVD by now? They are far superior blade finishes and the cost is very minimal. The DLC coated Spyderco's are typically no more than $10-15 more than the uncoated versions. This knife would have been an instant buy from me and my first Benchmade, but I'm not going to pay $150+ for a knife with an inferior coating that has a reputation for chipping and peeling.

God bless using 3v instead of s30v at least something new

x1000! Glad to see a company like Benchmade put 3V in a production folder. The model itself wouldn't have been my first choice to roll out 3V though. If they would have stuck to their normal drop-point blade, used a DLC or PVD coating rather than Cerakote, and maybe used a beefier material like Titanium for the pommel, I think there would have been a lot more excitement for this knife. As it is, as much as I want a 3V folder, I am going to have to pass on this one and hope some of these issues get corrected in future 3V releases.
