Benchmade 556-142 Mini-Griptilian Limited Edition

I won't make any "sour grapes" remarks, let's just say I will be very envious of anyone who owns this piece.

This is usually what happens when an expensive BM is shown. A lot of comments about the high price.

I wonder how long these are in stock. Do they move quickly or stay for a while?

Benchmade Gold Class offerings seem to have enough of a following that they move fairly quickly. Of course, only 100-200 pieces or thereabouts are produced for each model.

Just held it -- it's an awesome knife! After holding it in person I think that the price is commiserate of the craftsmanship, materials, and exclusivity

Okay, comment without price influence. WOW, awesome knives, both S90v and M4 versions!!!

Comment with price influence. Good GAWD.

I have been out of the knife community for almost a year. I have had LOTS of time to use my knives and VERY little time to read about knives. With that said, I had a, "clear my head" time.

Here is my thing... If you can't afford it, you are probably going to be envious and jealous. Wishing you could afford it for your collection. I haven't bought a knife in a year and I will not buy a knife again unless its for use. I have enough knives to scatter every where and use a different knife every direction I look. I think Benchmade needs to get over themselves a little on their prices, but on the same token, They have GREAT steel, great designs, USA manufacturing, pride, quality materials, KNOWLEDGE, skill, serious machinery and on and on. Sure we can sit and compare cost of titanium vs whatever and so on, but in the end its on Benchmade to pave their own way. Sure, I wish I could afford to buy one of these and throw it in my pocket, but I can't. Im not sad, jealous, envious or hurt about it.

Good for Benchmade for what they do.

Just my piece from a more outside perspective at this point.

These are beautiful knives that I would not pay for, but would sure love to own.

I remember your very nice 556-141 with M4 from a couple of months ago and managed to get one recently at a really good price below MAP! MSRP was $650.00 and MAP was $552.50.

They are both nice knives. For my taste I actually like the knife in RamZar's picture better. Nothing to do with price difference, just like the looks better.

If I absolutely had to have one, I could pull it off, but I don't want one that bad. Do I think they are overpriced ? Yes. However, there are people that are buying them that disagree with my thought on that, so in this case, it looks like it isn't a bad move on BM's part.
Like anything else, the market dictates an items actual worth. Congrats to those who have bought them. It is a great feeling getting something new that you REALLY like

Interesting to say the least. I would assume with only 150 made it will be strictly for the collectible market at that price. I would love to see that steel on a full production run knife.

 Well said! And welcome back my friend!

Welcome back Kevin. I don't personally subscribe to the "jealous means it's out of my price range so I'll bitch about it" philosophy. I guess I've been in hobby long enough to see what my personal point of diminishing returns is. If folks can buy sets of these without batting an eye, that is great for them. I guess I would rather have a that same money invested in custom. For that budget folks can get a lot of knife or firearm. It is a nice knife though.
