Benchmade 570 - A Benchmade that speaks to me

I was looking for a fairly hard use knife, something that would last, with a price point around $200. I first looked at ZT first, but their lack of thumb stud folders kept me at bay. I had my heart set on the 0562, but I just couldn't get past the non-functional (opening) thumb studs.

I have to say I stumbled onto something I love, the Benchmade 570 Presidio II, this is my first Benchmade and I have to say I love it.

3.75 inch S30V blade, aluminum scales with skeletonized steel liners, a fairly beefy knife. The scales on knife lock my hand in like no other, a very secure grip. If you guys don't want a flipper, definitely give this knife a look. I paid $174 for it, and I have to say I have zero complaints.

I loved the original. This one was on the list for some time as well.

I had one of those for 24 hours. It must have been a lemon. It had this annoying little amount of free play where the blade would just fall out from the handle about a 1/16 of an inch. It would actually rattle back and forth. The Axis Lock Bar would just wobble around in the locked/unlocked position. It had blade play in every direction. It was weird. None of my other Axis knives ever did this. To the knifes credit it felt really good in hand, and it had perfect centering, and fit and finish. Ultimately I returned it for store credit. I'm not opposed to another one, but I would need to see it in hand first.

Hmm, if you ever have a chance to handle another you may want to, mine doesn't show any of those things. Hate to hear that, I really like this model.

I really liked it too. A good step up from the Presidio 1 model. I will definitely check out another if given the chance in person.

I asked this in your thread in the BM forum but not much happening over there.
Will you please post a photo of the spine of the handle and blade.
Thanks

I'll second this, it's one of benchmades best in a long while. Huge surprise when you have it in hand also, it has that hefty build feeling of the Adamas and Loco.

Weren't they coming out with a mini version? I don't see it on the site.
I actually emailed Benchmade this question last week, and they said they weren't planning on it but if they get a lot of request they do listen to their customers,

Cool. I like the size of my 520 Presidio and always wanted to try the mini, thought it's size would be more practical.

I found a used 570 Presidio II on another site's exchange, so should be getting it next week. I'll try it out to see if I like it.

Great size and shape, but a bit heavy side. Would be just about perfect with micarta scales.
