Benchmade 580 Barrage spring deactivation ?

No problem. You'll also find that disassembly is easier than with a standard axis lock since the pivot is under the scales.

"That's my biggest concern. The Kershaw Blur relies on the assisted opening spring for blade retention while it's closed. "

This isn't true. I have a Blur in my pocket right now with the torsion bar removed. It stays closed as well as any other knife with a ball detent, which it has by the way.

I did this very same thing, removed the spring from my full size barrage. Very ez to do and I like it alot better as a manual axis lock Benchmade. EZ to remove and therefore EZ to replace:thumbup::D

Hi...since this is EZ, could you or someone explain the steps to remove the assist spring from my 580? I find the assist feel too stiff and "heavy". I'd like this to feel more like my AFCK 806D2 Axis. Or PM/EMail me if its considered in poor taste or whatever to explain it in public. Thanks.

An old but very helpful thread! I found the answers I was looking for. Thanks!
