So, I bought this 581 user not long ago, knowing that it needed some TLC. Previous owner had de-assisted it. It was dull as a butter knife with a nick in the edge and some very minor scratches on the blade. Not at all centered. I opened it up, cleaned up the internals, re-centered the blade, sharpened it on my Lansky, blue loctite on the pivot, and lubed it with Nano-oil. The blade is not perfectly centered, but it is not touching the frame. During sharpening, I removed 95% of that nick in the edge. By the way, WOW does M390 sharpen easily and take a scary edge! I'm sure some of the pros on here could do it better, but it's one of the best edges I've ever put on a knife and certainly the easiest. I didn't bother to take the nick out completely, to avoid removing more material than necessary, figuring in the next sharpening, it is gone. It does not affect cutting performance, does not hang up, and you probably wouldn't even notice it, unless I told you, or you examined it under a jeweler's light. If you require photos of the remaining nick or the centering, I will try to accommodate, but I need to locate my wife's digital camera, as my iphone won't capture it. The knife opens extremely smooth, with just the flick of a thumb. It has no blade play in any direction and it is very sharp. I do not believe I have the box, but if I do, it is yours. So, why, after all this work, am I selling it? I underestimated the heft and bulk of the knife. I have become too adjusted to my thin Protech Integrity in the pocket and in the hand. So, to reiterate, this is a USER! You're not getting a collectible. But, if a user knife is what you are looking for, and if you like a knife with heft that fills the hand, this is probably a great knife for you. Thanks for looking. No trades at this time. $100 shipped w/ insurance to CON U.S. only.
