Benchmade 635 or Buck Mayo TNT

Goldie - I am a lefty as well, but I do not let that get in the way of a good knife and me. :)

i talked to someone who has one, they were able to open it left handed,so im going to get one when i find it at a decent price...

I have been considering a Buck TNT and Wiamea for a while. I recently bought the 173 which is made in Taiwan. This is one nice folder. Very sharp and well made. Excellent blade geometry makes it a fine cutter and slicer. So light you don't even notice it but it is large enough handle my every cutting chores. It is a Buck and I like that. impressed and am going to buy a TNT.

In pocket carry you will find the TNT a lot more friendly to your jeans and the back of your hand when reaching deep to get something. The serrated thumbramp on the BM looks like it will be a persistent rasp every time. I find the BM CQC7 a pain that way - the TNT much better as it's got an inherent melt job toning down the sharp edges.

If anything, the TNT shows me it's a much better barehand EDC just by it's profile. I expect the BM has a better gloved hand approach for work or inclement weather - except for the chamfered thumb hole. That is not the way to do it.

You'll like the TNT, and it looks good, too!

you should extensively handle a 635 before you get one - I was dead set on one, then handled on in a store, and can echo the sentiment that the ball detent is WAY too strong, and the radiused thumb hole is awful. The rest of the knife is immaculate, though. The quality at the price level is amazing, it really feels like a custom to me. But man it's hard to just "casually" open it.

I looked at both in the shop. I could not open the Mayo one handed; so I left it in the shop. But that is just my experience, YMMV.

I am very satisfied with the BM 635.

Hope you enjoy your new knife and get years of satisfaction from it!
