Benchmade 710-801 in CPM-M4

My two 710 M4's look exactly like yours except for the number change. ;) Hence, no reason to post any pics.

They will remain in the safe until I sell one of them to someone who really wants one.

There's absolutely no rush in using them as I have an M2 in the 710 and a Large Ritter Grip also in M2 that I prefer to use and carry.

All great knives!

LOL--I'm in almost the same shape.

Own 2 of the limited edition 710's in M4, but am still using my trusty 710 in M2 as my normal EDC. Also planning on selling one at $300+ or so in a year or so, unless the right trade comes along before then.

Come on! You don't need a reason to post a knife pic. Especially here.

Well, it's a fairly plain pic, but here you go:

I feel better using this M4 710 than I do my 710HS. I think the fact that it has the ugly "limited edition" scrawl on the blade makes it easier to use!

It looks to me that the old slick finish on the 710HS G-10 has given way to a matte or at least less slick finish on G-10 used for the 710-801 and presumably newer 710D2. That's a step in the right direction.

Yes, the newer G10 is less plasticky and feels better.

edit.. it is actually a green coating over black G10..

710-801 owners, how is you blade's coating holding up?

I noticed a few rust spots starting on my blade and gave them a gentle rub with an old worn out foam sanding block wet with Militec-1. I was surprised to see that the coating was wearing right off.
I have other Benchmade's with black coated blades and none of them have worn in the way that my 710-801's blade has.

I removed the blade and thumb studs and completely stripped the coating, just by rubbing with the sanding pad.

I don't really like black blades, so I'm pretty happy with the result!

No pics available yet..

Recently I had decided I wanted a knife in M4 and picked up a 710-801. I sent it off to knifenut1013 to have the edge thinned and polished. Jason did a fantastic sharpening job on it and I am looking forward to carrying and using it more in the future ( just got a S90V Manix 2 I'm carrying at the moment.:D)

I really think I have to get in touch with Jason. Great job on that edge.

Hey Lorenzo I guarantee you Jason will hook you up with a super sharp edge on your 710.

He's got the touch with the blades alright, but he's a class guy too. I'd do business with him on just his word alone if I was selling him something. That's saying a bunch IMO.

He can really make CPM M4 cut atoms, but he can sharpen all common steels I'm aware of and do it better than I can. Joe

I only have one, unused, minty fresh in my safe.:D

I plan on using it to help fund a custom,a year or two down the road.;)

I really regret not buying two.It looks like a great user.

I will send Justin both one of my 710-801s and one of my 806-901s when I come back from a trip. I really want to get rid of that ugly BM grind... I gently re-profiled one of my M4 AFCKs but it was really time-consuming and I want to compare his job to mine. The recurve edge on the 710 I cannot deal with myself.
