Benchmade 710-801 in CPM-M4

Hey Lorenzo I guarantee you Jason will hook you up with a super sharp edge on your 710.

Jason is a pro!

I just got my 806bk-901 back from him. Killer edge, he does amazing work.

but to stay on topic...

You can see the coating wear of the 710 in the last pic, wasn't too bad.

I traded my 710-801 for the 806bk-901 though, so I don't have it any more. :(

I have some questions regarding the 710-801.

Do the green-coated handles scratch in the pocket?

Where can I order replacement scales? I want the black G10 ones.

What is the blade's hardness?

What kind of coating did Benchmade use on the blade this time?

Benchmade only uses BK coating now. They switched over from the BT coating some time ago.

The green coated handles do rub a bit on some corners exposing black, but only a little bit.

As far as replacement scales, I'd assume you'd have to buy two and pull a switcheroo.

Benchmade can sell the black G10 scales separately. I believe I was quoted $60~$65 for a set.

After receiving that quote, I decided it was better to just buy another 710.

Thanks for the speedy response. Bummer on the scratching coatings though. Looks like I'll have to make some maple scales for mine.

BTW, applause to you for finding lanyard string of such a fitting color for yours.

Yeah that's just ridiculous. I need to do a little filing for easier thumbstud access, but since it's black G10 underneath the green coating on the scales, that won't look too good.

BTW, do you know if Benchmade also makes spare blades in M4?

Those look really nice, I'm fully satisfied with my D2 version but who doesn't want more?! Maybe some day...

The pics in this thread got me all excited in that I just purchased a 710-801 today, and can't wait to get it. This will help tide me over.....

This is a pic from 09 of my M4 710 from Jason after he sharpened it. You'll love the M4.
