Benchmade 710 and 610

I am thinking of picking up each this weekend. Lest me know the good and bad of these 2 before I make the investment. Tell me what you like and dislike. As usual thanks guys.

I don't have a 710, or a 610 for that matter, but I do have a 615 and the only problem I have had with it is the clip. Its kinda flimsy. Same goes for a friend of mine that has a 610. But I have not had a problem with the clip yet. The Rukus makes a nice deep carry, so it dose not have to be held with alot of force. And the weight can usuly keep the knife in you pocket without a problem.
I here people say that the handles are to think. But I like them .

I have only the 710, so have no idea about the 610... but if you'd like to know about the 710, just remember: one heck of a knife. Specifically, the feel, shape, and prettiness are all there, but it is functional, strong, fun, and just awesome. Only drawbacks are getting used to the thickness (I'd only used relatively thin folding knives before), and that it doesn't ride very deep in the pocket, and with stainless bolsters, pocket carry is pretty obtrusive. Still, one of the best knives I could ask for. You will also need to take care of the D2. Again, an amazing knife.

I love the 710. Its a hair to big for me as an EDC. However, I live and work in suburbia. I get looks if I pull out a knife that big.

I did forget to mention... it's a BIG knife. So big in fact, that my friends have made comments about the "sword in your pants" (Honest to god, and it was by another guy I know to be straight!). Anyhow, the 710 is quite big, but I guess I do like that, but it has gotten to the point where I'm thinking of getting a Pacific Salt for my primary edc so I don't get those kinda comments...

Though I've blabbered on before about how awesome the Manix is and how it is my favorite EDC, lately the 710 has seen a lot of pocket time. It's a superb knife, any way you look at it. I wish the Manix had thicker liners and thinner scales like the 710.

I love the recurve of the 710. The curve of the blade offers many unique cutting angles and positions. It may not be the best blade design for some cutting tasks but its at least a great design for most.

The 610 was a bit too big for my uses so I got the 615/Mini-Rukus, which is still a tank. Love the Axis lock, the substantial grips and the blade; S30V is very impressive stuff, holds a great edge and is easy to sharpen on DMT hones. Rides quite low in the pocket, no problem with the clip.

I love the feeling of a large folder clipped to my belt, there is a very capable feeling to both of these knives. I do favour the 610 more so as it is more substantial. Its the 4x4 hardcore offroader of folding knives.

the 710 is a wonderful knife. it's light for its size, and the fit and finish are fantastic. it's also very thin for such a large knife, but it doesn't feel flimsy at all. feels great in the hand. I can't comment on the D2, since mine is M2, but the shape of the blade has been great for everything I've needed it for.

I like the 710. It is my first quality knife, so my opinion might be a bit slanted, but everything about it works very well. The D2 gets sharp enough to split hairs. The factory bevel is keen but a little unsharp. The Lansky made quick work of it though. The only thing is that it's pretty big. I might have gone with the 707 Sequel or 705 if I had to do it again.

I have a 710, and it is just great. It is as big of a folder as I would ever carry, so I have no use for a 610! A 615 "mini" maybe, but even the "mini" is pretty big!

I love the 610 and have no problem with carrying it. I know that others feel it is too big, but if you truly like big folders you can't pass on the 610.:D

I have no problem with my 710 in my pocket (usually have multi-pocket pants). I don't use the clip it came with, just the little pouch it came with (keeps the pocket lint outta it). I've been EDCing it almost everyday for a about a year now; what a excellent blade, the feel, the balance, the axis "PoP!" Your gonna luv it bro :D

Benchmade 710 and 610

I am thinking of picking up each this weekend. Lest me know the good and bad of these 2 before I make the investment. Tell me what you like and dislike. As usual thanks guys.

I just sold my 710, and have decided that I didn't make a bad decision. Nothing wrong with the knife, just not suited to my needs. I like a wider blade, the blade on the 710 was too narrow for me. If we could get a redesign on it like the 705 upgrade 707 model, ie a wider bladed 710, and keep the G10 handle (maybe make the G10 a little bit more like Spyderco or Strider), I would be more than happy. D2, 154CM or M2.

The Rukus was one of my favorite purchases. Ever. The blade shape was perfect, and while the blade was a hair too long, it was something I could live with. The ergos on the handle were great, I just couldn't get past that ugly handle. I just picked up a Strider SNG, so, uh:D. But I just didn't like the handle. It could have been ergonomic without being that ugly and distorted.

Both knives have the axis lock, and both are extremely good user knives. I would just like to see the 710 with a wider blade, and the 610 with a more standard BM handle.

I have both. They are very different knives. The Rukus is a big, heavy duty, more outdoors oriented knife (though its comforting in the pocket in the city ;) )

The 710 carries light, is longer than it looks, is an excellent city knife, dress clothes knife, etc.

Both are great products, well built, well designed.
