I just got a 710 and am very pleased with it. The reason I was asking this question about other peoples usage is while I was shopping around for this knife I came across more than one description where it was put in the category of "Tactical". Don't worry -- I am not going to over a beat to death topic like what Tactical actually means. To me it is a very good larger blade folder for every day tasks.

Mine is a trusted ECD. It's uses are widespread to say the least. It isn't babied that's for sure. Opening quikrete bags, wire stripping, cutting fiberglass insulation to the mundane mail opening chores:) For me it does it all and has never failed at anything I've put it to:thumbup:

Congratulations:thumbup:, The 710 is a BM classic. I've cut vegetables to tubular tires. My 710 has never let me down,

I use mine for primarily field dressing deer and hogs. I have the M390 version, and I like the "bellied" swedge on the blade for skinning. I put barrel spacers in the spine for easy cleaning too. It's not the ideal field dressing knife, but it's great for a folder and easier to carry than a fixed blade.

I have purchased 3 of the 710 knives so far. I have been sending them over seas, to servicemen I know that are stationed in Afghanistan.

Reporting back, they tell me that the blades are very serviceable, stay sharp, and are very sturdy. They create a lot of 'blade envy' among their buddies. :D

I forget the exact model, but they were all like this one.

If it had the same blade profile as the 707 I'd pick on up for sure. I just don't like the recurve blade shape, just looks too skinny. It's a very popular knife with a great history. You will be well served.

I carry mine from time to time, with pleasure to use it on whatever needs to be cut, examples as pumpkin carver, quick kitchen knife in holidays, made wood shavings many times...and so on
It was the knife i had on me at my wedding, so this particular knife has a very special meaning to me.
I find it to be one of the best looking elegant folders I have in my collection, and a great performer as well.

Hi
BM 710 is one of my favorite knives.
I have a D2.
Now I'm waiting for the knife limited edition of the M390

I think this is not the last 710 in my collection

sorry for the translation

shamanasa, Welcome to BF. The 710 is one of my all time favorites from Benchmade.

Not sure why it doesn't float my boat, but I think it has something to do with "too much blade, not enough handle". I'm just weird that way.

Ive edced it, but right now I mainlu use if for cutting rope and cardboard. The recurve really helps with that

710 = Modern Classic Benchmade.
Tried to warm up to the GC, but to me, it just wasn't a 710, Tried twice. (too thick & blocky)
Same with the Green M4, tried twice but didnt care for the green paint.
Kept the M2, M390's & 154cm.
The 710 is of my favorites to carry.
Lot of knife in a small package.

I use mine for EDC and cutting things, letter opener, making big sticks into little sticks, etc. I used it to cut a hot dog up once, not a very tactical task.

The 710 is a tactical knife and should only be used for tactical applications - period.

Case in point, I got all tactical with a bbq chicken last weekend. He never saw it coming. I've also been known to take out an envelope or two that crossed my path.

I agree that its a lot of blade and i'm more cautious about whipping it out in public (no comments on that please) -- but it handles like a smaller knife with the narrower blade. I wasn't a fan of recurves but i've really grown to like the added belly it gives. Plus - its just so damn rock solid and comfortable. Its one of those knives that I appreciate every time I get all tactical.

My 710 is almost always my weekend carry. I take it with me when I'm bicycling, it's handy for almost everything. I've used it to cut a double cheeseburger into thirds (think Mercedes-Benz logo!) to share between myself and my two young boys. I always have a Case peanut with me as well in case I'm in an environment where whipping out this big boy would cause alarm, but even at the fast-food burger joint no one gives a second look when I'm cutting up that double cheeseburger. Just gotta be matter-of-fact and not call attention. It is truly a sweet carry. And it's slimness in the pocket is nice - it carries like a smaller knife.
